Increasing our Renewable Energy Adoption
In 2025, we continued to ramp up our adoption of renewable electricity. HKRI Taikoo Hui and Taikoo Li Qiantan, securing 80% off-site renewable electricity covering both landlord and tenant operations starting in Q2 and Q3 of 2025 respectively. In 2025, over 88% of the electricity consumption (which is equivalent to a total 261 million kWh) of our Chinese Mainland portfolio (including Hotels) is now powered by renewable electricity, achieving net-zero emissions for both landlord and tenant operations.

Grid Power for THE HEADLAND RESIDENCES Construction Site
Working with the Hongkong Electric Company, we connected THE HEADLAND RESIDENCES construction site to grid power at the earliest possible time. A large site such as this would typically require six to eight diesel generators, with a single tower crane requiring one full generator. Using grid power cuts energy costs by 70% compared to renting generators and buying diesel. It also reduces carbon emissions by approximately 1,600 tonnes, avoids the maintenance and breakdown issues common with diesel generators, improves air quality, and reduces noise benefiting workers and nearby residents.
When completed, THE HEADLAND RESIDENCES will also have building integrated photovoltaics (“BIPV”) on the glass roof of the development’s footbridge. These panels will produce approximately 7,320 kWh of electricity per year.
Underwater Solar Panels at Taikoo Li Sanya
We are maximising our solar photovoltaic (“PV”) coverage at Taikoo Li Sanya, with an installation capacity of 3,700 kWp56. We are trialling the installation of 300 PV panels submerged in a water feature which matches other water features in the development. Preliminary tests have shown that placing PV panels just under the surface of the water can help increase their efficiency by around 1.5%, since the water can help cool the panels while direct sunlight is maintained.
Solar Panels at our EAST Hotels
In mid-2025, we installed several solar PV panels on the roof of our EAST Beijing hotel. These panels supply green energy specifically for the hotel’s newly rebranded LED logo and LED rooftop outline. On average, the panels generate 1,000 kWh of electricity, which covers 75-80% of the energy required to power the lights, outline and logo on the building’s roof.
We also completed the installation of 14 solar PV panels on the roof of our EAST Hong Kong hotel. These will generate 13,270 kWh of renewable energy and improve the hotel’s environmental footprint.
